Former IBF Welterweight Champion Joshua Clottey remains adamant he has not retired from boxing despite being inactive over a long period.

Clottey’s last bout was a 9th round Technical knockout victory in Ghana against Tanzanian Azizi Mponda in 2019.

Despite his long spell out of the ring, Clottey says he is still fit to fight and isn’t ready to hang up his gloves.

“I have not retired from boxing but I am also not an active fighter, I am both.

“I feel like I am always in shape because I had a fight in 2019.

“I fought Azizi and Mphume who are both young guys but I stopped them.

“I can still fight but Covid – 19 put brakes on what I was doing.

“I was a little scared of the Corona so I stopped coming to the gym,” he revealed on The Tracker on Citi TV.

The 43 year old has fought 47 times, winning 41,losing 5 while 1 was declared a no contest.
