The Club Licensing Committee has conditionally rejected the Baba Yara Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium as venues for the 20212022 Ghana Premier League season.

The country’s two biggest venues were part of twelve (12) venues that were all rejected pending further works to fix defects.

The decisions were taken based on the reports received from the Club Licensing Manager from the inspection visits across the various venues.

Four venues;  WAFA Park, Aliu Mahama Stadium, Cape Coast and the Len Clay Stadium have been granted conditional approval pending the correction and fixing of defects by a deadline of October 18, 2021.

The 18 GPL clubs were made to submit two venues each; a primary venue and an alternative venue, to be inspected and approved for use for the 2021/2022 season.

Out of the number, 15 clubs had their venues rejected.

The venues of Asante Kotoko, King Faisal, Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, Berekum Chelsea, Techiman Eleven Wonders and Bechem United were all rejected.

Other venues rejected include those of Aduana Stars, Bibiani Gold Stars, Elmina Sharks, Karela United, Medeama Sporting Club, and Accra Lions.

Legon Cities, who chose the El-Wak Stadium, have also had their venue rejected.

The Club Licensing Committee will make final decisions on the venues after the final inspection on October 18, 2021.

The decisions on the match venues will be final for the period of the first round following the last round of inspection.
