2022 WCQ: Swindon goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott reacts to debut Black Stars call up

Swindon Town goalkeeper, Jojo Wollacott is ready to make his maiden Black Stars trip for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe.

The shot-stopper was named in Milovan Rajevac’s 32-man provisional list for the doubleheader against the Warriors.

Ghana hosts the first leg at Cape Coast on October 9 with the reverse fixture coming off in Harare three days later.

Jojo will join Lawrence Ati Zigi, Richard Attah and Ibrahim Danlad as the four goalkeepers for the games.

The 25-year-old is delighted about making the squad but adds that it’s not a surprising one.

“It was something I was aware of before but it was never going to happen because I wasn’t playing.

“I found out on the Sunday after the game on Saturday last week. And it just happened quite fast.

The former Bristol City player is gearing up for his first national team experience.

“I am just preparing myself and concentrating on the game on Saturday first and then let’s see what happens after when I leave for Ghana.

“There’s some history with Ghana as they’ve done well at previous international tournaments.”

The Black Stars are second in Group E with three points behind South Africa for the Qatar qualifiers.
