Accra Senior Open Tennis Champs: Seth Mingle beat Jonathan Quaye to advance to finals

Semi professional tennis star, Seth Mingle beat Jonathan Quaye 6-1,1-6, 11-9 in a keenly contested semifinals to reach the final of the ongoing Accra Senior Open Tennis Championships in Accra on Friday, December 3, 2021.

His win sets up a finale with Patrick Tenkorang.

In the game shown on Citi TV, both tennis players shared the first and second sets 6-1 each before settling scores in the third, which Mingle edged Quaye in what was a mouthwatering encounter.

In the other game broadcast on Citi TV, Felix Kabutey and James Wiafe lost to Isaac Dapaah and Benjamin Nii Noi Ababio 7-6(4),3-6,11-9.

Nii Bortey and Ishmaila Lamptey in two sets comfortably defeated Quartey Simpson and David Addo 6-4,6-4 in the other semifinals of the Semi Professional Men’s Doubles.

James Wiafe on the other beat Canadian diplomat Baly Sarasoro 6-4,6-0 quarter final stage of the Men’s 35-44 category, joining George Heckson, Felix Kabutey and Richard Odoom Mensah in the semis.

In the Ladies 30-39 Doubles Faustina Tagoe and Linda Berg beat Eugenia Asigri and Afia Oforiwaa 7-6(4),6-3. Also, in the Ladies 40+ Doubles
Faustina Tagoe and Augustina Yamark easily defeated Emily Stoiber and Dorcas Sowah 6-2,6-0.

The Ladies Professional events saw Tracy Ampah easily breeze past Helena Hammond 6-1,6-2 and Yvonne Bruce-Tagoe edging Naa Ankrah 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.

Citi TV’s live coverage will continue today, which will include analysis and commentary of key final games which is expected to serve viewers a treat.
