Black Stars head coach, Milovan Rajevac, in a provisional 30-man squad to begin camping in Doha, Qatar, called up five local-based players.

Hearts of Oak’s Richard Attah retains his spot in the team ahead of Kotoko’s Razak Abalora in the latest squad to for the trip to Doha ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon from January 9, 2022.

U-20 AFCON winner, Philemon Baffour has once again been picked for national team duties despite not playing a game so far in any of the previous call-ups.

His teammate at the U-20 championships in Mauritania, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is in the team following an impressive start to the season for Dreams FC. In addition, he was part of the team’s setup during the final 2022 World Cup qualifying matches against Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Great Olympics forward, Maxwell Abbey Quaye, finds his name on the list after an incredible start to the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season that has seen him score 6 times for Olympics.

After the announcement of the provisional Black Stars squad on Monday, Abbey Quaye took to Twitter to express his thoughts on being part of the team. He thanked Great Olympics head coach, Annor Walker, and his teammates at the club for their support of his career.

Seeing my name in this provisional list is a big win, all thanks to God, coach Daniel Annor Walker, management of this great team, my team members, the lovely fans and every single person supporting me. At least my hard work is being recognised. We hope for the best 🙏 pic.twitter.com/c7IqY2k2aA
