Ghanaian Players in the Champions League – Matchday 6

The UEFA Champions League returns tonight for the final round of group stage games, and Ghanaian players will be in action.

Here’s a preview of Ghanaian players in action in match day 6 of the UEFA Champions League.

Edmund Addo (Sheriff Tiraspol – Moldova/Transnistria)

Sheriff’s improbable Champions League run has come to an end. Famous wins over Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid made Sheriff dream of going all the way but back to back defeats at the hands of Inter Milan and Real Madrid mean that Sheriff will play Europa League football come next year.

In their last game against Real Madrid, Addo lasted all 90 mins and was at his combative best racking up numerous defensive actions however it was not enough as Madrid put 3 past them.

With 3rd place secured the match against Shakhtar is a complete dead rubber.

Kamal Sowah (Club Brugge – Belgium)

Brugge have the game of their lives on Tuesday night as they travel to the Parc des Princes to play Lionel Messi’s PSG. PSG are second with no chance of winning the group so could possibly rest players whilst the Belgians and RB Leipzig are in direct competition for a Europa League spot.

Sowah started as a wing back as Leipzig battered the Belgians in Brugge last game week.

With a goal difference of -11 and an inferior head to head a better result than Leipzg will be necessary to secure further European football.

Malik Abubakari (Malmö – Sweden)

Malmö have managed 1 point in 5 games and travel to Turin to face Juventus who are aiming for top spot. Like Brugge head to head and goal difference are against them and they will need a miracle to qualify.

Abubakari, has not featured since matchday 3 and has barely made an impact in the competition. He can only hope they are here next year and he can make his mark on the competition.

Mohammed Kudus (Ajax – Netherlands)

Ajax have been excellent in the Champions League and have emerged as one of the favorites. With 5 wins alongside Liverpool and Bayern Munich they have looked imperious in this years Champions League. They face Sporting who have also qualified on the last day.

Kudus, has been a non factor in all of this. Injuries have ruined his season and he has 24 minutes and one solitary appearance to his name in this season’s edition.
