AFCON 2021: ‘There was no need to make unnecessary substitutions’ – Rajevac

Black Stars head coach, Milovan Rajevac has revealed he felt everything was under control, thus his late decision to make substitutions in Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Morocco in their opening game of the 2021 AFCON.

A late goal from Sofianne Boufal in the 83rd minute saw Ghana succumb to defeat at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Cameroon on Monday afternoon.

Rajevac reacted to the goal by bringing on Fatawu Issahaku, Benjamin Tetteh and Daniel Kyereh in the 86th minute, a decision many felt was a tad bit too late in the game.

Speaking after the game, Rajevac said he believed the team was functioning well and he didn’t need to make any changes.

He spoke through his interpreter, Nenad Glisic.

” Everything was really tight and the team was functioning well and I really felt we had everything under control.”

” Everything was going well, so there was no need to make unnecessary changes because until the moment we conceded the goal, we had full control of the match.”

Ghana will take on Gabon on Friday, January 14 before taking on Comoros in their last group game.
