2022 WCQ: “We know Ghanaians are skeptical about the team but we have a plan” -Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo says the pessimism about the team makes them worker harder  to prove doubters wrong and secure a ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in Qatar.

The Black Stars of Ghana will be hoping to regain the trust and love of Ghanaians with a display of a lifetime when they play the Super Eagles of Nigeria after an embarrassing Africa Cup of Nations exit.

Ghana crashed out of the tournament, recording just one point and at the January AFCON in Cameroon.

It is at the back of this that Addo says it is ‘reasonable that people are skeptical’ of the team in his first press conference as Black Stars head coach.

“It is reasonable that people are skeptical because of our performance at the AFCON but we have a chance to go to the World Cup and skepticism among the press and Ghanaians makes us work harder.” Otto Addo started.

According to Addo, he has devised a plan with his backroom staff and hopes it will play out well later today when Ghana takes on Nigeria at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

“We have a plan but I cannot tell you what exactly it is but we hope that it will be visible for everyone to see but football is football; you can play good and lose or play very bad and still win but we have worked hard to ensure that we implement our ideas on the pitch so we have the highest chance of qualifying to the World Cup,” he added.

The first leg of the game will played today at 7:30 pm and the return leg, four days later in Abuja.

The winner over the two legs will secure one of the five available slots from Africa at the World Cup to be hosted in Qatar.
