Senegal legend El Hadji Diouf has revealed Asamoah Gyan is his favourite player.
Diouf, who is a close friend of Gyan, is in Ghana for the launch of the former Ghana captain’s autobiography.
Le-Gyan-dary, will be an insight into the life of Ghana’s greatest footballer.
Diouf, speaking to the media soon after his arrival was effusive in his praise of Gyan.
“I have left everything to show up for one of my favourite players; he is like a brother to me. I am here to support Gyan because it is the same as supporting Africa because he has been a great ambassador for Africa”
Diouf went on to stress the importance of writing books as many of the older generation had not.
“It is important to write something and leave it for the next generation. The older generation did not write us books. We need to tell people where we came from. I came from nothing my grandparents sold peanuts and fish. In 50 years we might not be here so these stories need to be recorded”
