Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp became the first Ghanaian to play over 200 matches in the Premier League over the weekend.

Almost exactly a year ago, Schlupp overtook former Chelsea star, Michael Essien, on the list of Ghanaians with the most appearances in England’s top flight.

Last Saturday, Schlupp started Crystal Palace’s 2-1 win at Southampton, making his 201st appearance in the Premier League.

Schlupp has made 141 appearances for the Eagles since moving from Leicester City, where he featured 60 times in the division.

The Ghanaian, who has played in a number of positions for his various clubs, including at left-back and as a left-winger, is currently playing in his ninth season in the Premier League.

He has scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists for his teammates so far. He has also been involved in 70 wins and 82 losses.

Teammate, Jordan Ayew isn’t far behind and also made his 200th appearance in the win over Southampton.

He is expected to cross that mark when Palace take on Watford on Saturday.

Neither player appears to have dipped in terms of performance despite their milage as they have both been nominated for Palace’s Player of the Year Award.
