“We joke and fight” – Afena-Gyan clarifies tussle with Mancini

Teenage star, Felix Afena-Gyan has downplayed a row with AS Roma defender, Gianluca Mancini, calling it a “joke”.

Afena-Gyan found himself in a bizarre situation as Roma celebrated winning the UEFA Conference League on Wednesday night.

The Ghana international was seen to have been smashed in the face by Italian defender, Gianluca Mancini during the title celebration in Tirana as Roma defeated Feyenoord 1-0 in the maiden final of the UEFA Conference League.

This isn’t a great look for Mancini… Felix Afena-Gyan is a 19 year old playing his first year with Roma and appears to do nothing wrong, let alone anything to warrant that reaction.

Can anyone explain? pic.twitter.com/4l5EkTZQuq

The 19-year-old claims there was nothing in the incident, with the duo merely messing around after helping Roma to a first European trophy since 1961.

He said afterwards: “It wasn’t serious.

“We joke and fight at the same. That’s how he is. It’s normal, nothing serious.”

The win is Felix Afena-Gyan’s first major trophy in his debut season with AS Roma’s first team under José Mourinho.
