23 year old Yakubu scored the first of two goals in the 22nd minute by providing a tidy finish past the goalkeeper into the left side of the post.

He followed it up with a headed goal in the 43rd minute to cap a dominant first half by Rio; Yakubu’s cross from the right side was met by Pedro Amaral on the opposite end.

Yakubu, who turns 24 in November, has spent majority of his professional career in Portugal featuring for the likes of Estoril Praia and Vitoria Guimaraes.

The win is Rio Ave’s first in the 2022-2023 Season that moved the club up the 18 team league standings to 14th with four points accumulated from four games.

Losing to Rio Ave was the first loss for Porto four games into the 2022-2023 Season; Porto ranks third in the standings.
