Ghana Sprinter, Joseph Paul Amoah, has indicated that drawing a “very good lane” in the final of the 200m men’s final at the 2022 Commonwealth Games aided his bronze medal win in the event.

In an interview with AthleticsAfrica, after the 25 year old became the first Ghanaian Sprinter to make it to the podium of the Commonwealth Games since 1974, Amoah stated;

“I know I drew a very good lane and being in Lane 5 means you could feel those coming from 1 to 4 and you could actually see from 6 to 9. I wanted to use that to my advantage, execute and stay in my lane and focus on the (finish) line and try to reach for it.”

Amoah’s time of 20.49 seconds clinched Ghana’s third Bronze Medal in the Birmingham Games.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Jereem Richards and England’s Zharnel Hughes won gold and silver respectively.

Amoah holds Ghana’s National Team Record over the 200 Meter Distance after running a time of 20.08 seconds in 2019.
