Trainer of Ghana’s National Boxing Team (the Black Bombers) Kwasi Ofori Asare has delivered on his medal count promise from his team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The veteran trainer promised his team will deliver at least three medals for Ghana at the competition taking place in Birmingham.

“We are looking forward to winning at least two more medals to make it three for Team Ghana” Asare said to Daily Graphic after Joseph Commey sealed his place in the semifinals.

Three Members of the Black Bombers have guaranteed themselves medals by making it to the semifinals in various weight categories.

Joseph Commey scored a unanimous win over Alex Mukuka from New Zealand in the Featherweight Division Quarterfinal while Abraham Mensah beat Rukmal Prasanna in a Bantamweight Division quarterfinal matchup.

Abdul Wahid Omar dominated Elia Rokobuli of Papua New Guinea in the Light Welterweight quarterfinal contest; by making it to the semifinals, Omar has secured a second Commonwealth Games medal after winning Bronze at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

All three Boxers will feature in semifinal bouts on Saturday, August 6.
