Ghanaian duo stars in Rio Ave loss in Portuguese League

Ghanaian strike pair of Emmanuel Boateng and Abdul-Aziz Yakubu put in impressive performances for Rio Ave in the Liga Portugal’s latest round of games.

Boateng and Yakubu registered goals in Rio Ave’s 2-3 loss to SC Braga, a defeat which condemned Rio to a third loss of the 2022-2023 league season in six games.

Rio Ave are currently 14th in the 18-team league standings.

Yakubu continued his fine start to the season by scoring Rio’s second goal of the game and assisted Boateng’s debut goal on his return to the club.

26-year-old Boateng joined Rio Ave early on in his career after transferring from Ghanaian side Charity Stars Football Club ahead of the 2014-2015 season.

Boateng moved on to play for Portuguese side, Moreirense and Spanish side, Levante before joining Chinese side, DL Yifang.
