Ghanaian record-holding powerlifter and strongman Evans Nana Ekow Aryee has been ranked 10th at the just-ended Imatra Strongman championship that took place in Finland.

Evans who placed third in his first time participating in this regional championship held annually in Finland competed with close to 30 strongman athletes drawn from various countries in Europe including France, Germany, Norway, the UK, Poland, Italy and Finland.

After his declaration as the 10th strongest man in the Imatra competition in Finland, Evans Aryee expressed mixed reactions as he hoped to do better in his upcoming competitions.

‘I know this is not the best of results I was expecting, but hopefully, we get the chance to do better in my upcoming strongman competitions in Romania, the USA and South Africa to compete for Africa’s strongest. Even though this wasn’t the best of expectations from myself and my fans I hope to make them proud’.

Evans is currently in Romania to participate in the Strongman competition which is drawing other competitors from all over Europe to compete for one trophy, at his arrival he asked for the support of all and sundry as he looks forward to making history and once again making Ghana proud.

‘The support for me has been great over the years and this year has been tremendous as I participate in very reputable and `international competitions. Like you always do for me I ask for your constant support, I believe there is something good in Romania for me’ he said.

The various events he is going to participate in together with 30 other strongman athletes at the Strongman championship in Romania include Truck Pull, Farmerswalk, Hercules Hold, Log lift and Atlas Stones.
