Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif has urged Ghanaians to play a part in the maiden National Fitness Day this Saturday, September 10, 2022.

Several personalities including Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Ministers of State, Parliamentarians, GFA President, Kurt Okraku, Sports Federations and keep-fit clubs are expected to be part of the walk and aerobics event.

In Greater Accra, participants will converge at the Accra Sports Stadium at 5:30am.

The walk will begin from the stadium through the Sports Ministry to the High street and back to the stadium.

The exercise will be held simultaneously across the 16 regions.

Speaking to the media in a press briefing, Mustapha Ussif said: “The health benefits are numerous. I urge every Ghanaian, those of you in Greater Accra to join us at the Accra Sports Stadium. The whole purpose is to promote and let people know the benefit of fitness to us and our country. A healthy nation is a wealthy nation.”

Ghanaians can promote the day on social media with images or videos of their session with the hashtag #NationalFitnessDay.

Every second Saturday in a month has been selected as a National Fitness Day.
