UCL: Kudus Mohammed’s impressive goalscoring run comes to an end

Kudus was named Man of the Match against Rangers in this season's UEFA Champions League Group stage.

Versatile Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus started for Ajax Amsterdam for the fourth game in a row in this season’s UEFA Champions League.

The 22 year old played in a “False 9” role in Ajax’s 4 -2 loss to Napoli on Game day 4 in the Champions League group stage. The Dutch giant lost 1-6 to Napoli in the first leg with Kudus scoring the consolation goal for Ajax.

Prior to tonight’s game, Kudus had started and scored in all three games for Ajax against Glasgow Rangers, Liverpool and Napoli in Italy.

He extended his streak by getting the nod in the starting unit and had a big chance to score in the first half but dragged his shot too wide to the right side of the goal.

Brian Brobbey replaced Kudus in the 64th minute and won a penalty that fellow striker Steven Bergwijn smashed in for Ajax’s second goal.

Kudus’ consistent play as a “False 9” comes at a time Ghana’s Black Stars are preparing to compete in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar that commences on November 20.

Ghana is in Group H with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in Qatar.
