Ghanaian winger Augustine Okrah is delighted about the opportunity to compete in the CAF Champions League group stage after a five year absence.
Okrah, who plays for Tanzanian outfit Simba Sporting Club, contributed to the team’s qualification by assisting in a 3-1 win over Angola’s Primeiro do Agosto in the first of two legs.
In the second leg, Okrah played 78 minutes in Simba’s 1-0 win that had Zambian forward Moses Phiri score the only goal of the game.
Okrah played at the group stage of Africa’s elite football competition for Sudanese clubs Al Merrikh and Al-Hilal Omdurman in the 2014-2015 season and 2016-2017 season respectively.
The well-traveled speedy winger took to Twitter to express his happiness about returning to the elite level after a long absence.
“Finally… I’ll be playing in Caf Champions League group stage again and this time with Simba. So happy. Congrats to Simba leaderships, coaches, players and supporters. Time to aim at the semis” he wrote.
