‘Objective is to help Clermont stay in Ligue 1’- Alidu Seidu speaks on contract extension

Versatile Ghanaian defender, Alidu Seidu has reacted in the aftermath of penning a contract extension with French Ligue 1 side Clermont Foot 63.

Seidu signed a two-year extension to his existing deal that keeps him at Clermont till 2027 in the face of his previous contract ending in 2025.

In a club statement released after the contract extension was announced this morning, Seidu outlined the objective behind his move.

“I am very happy to have extended for two additional years at Clermont Foot 63. My objective is to maintain this good dynamic with the team and to keep our place in Ligue 1 Uber Eats. I thank all the supporters as well as the coach, the staff and the whole club for their trust. Go Clermont” he stated.

22-year-old Seidu has played all 11 league games for Clermont this season, starting all of them.

He made his international debut for Ghana’s Black Stars in a 1-0 win over Nicaragua in an international friendly and is tipped to get selected for the Black Stars’ trip to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana is in Group H with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
