Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru featured for Anderlecht in their 4-2 win over KAS Eupen on Sunday in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. The match marked his return to action after falling ill and he assisted Anouar Ait El-Hadj’s goal in the 87th minute to seal the win.

The assist delivered was Ashimeru’s second of the season with the first coming in Anderlecht’s 2-2 draw with Leuven on September 4.

Prior to falling ill, Ashimeru had played three games in a row and saw all those games out but the ailment forced him to miss a league match-up against KV Mechelen while only making the bench in Anderlecht’s 0-1 loss to Club Brugge.

Fellow Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso started for Eupen but got substituted in the 46th minute after getting booked in the 17th minute.

Ashimeru’s form earlier this season has had him firmly in the mix for a place in Ghana’s Black Stars squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana is in Group H of the World Cup with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
