EPL: Leicester tame Wolves to move out of the relegation zone

October 23, 2022
Reading Time: 1 min read

Leicester climbed out of the bottom three as they punished a wasteful Wolves side in a 4-0 victory.

Youri Tielemans got things going with a worldie strike earlier on before the flood gates opened and Harvey Barnes, James Maddison and Jamie Vardy all netted.

The Foxes may be struggling this season and started the match bottom of the Premier League, but made an incredibly fast start against their relegation rivals.

Tielemans’ brilliant half-volley gave Leicester an eighth-minute lead.

Wolves only cleared Maddison’s free-kick to the midfielder 25 yards out and he smashed in a strike which arrowed into the top corner off the post.

Harvey Barnes then doubled Leicester’s lead after 19 minutes when he collected Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s pass and beat Jose Sa.

James Maddison made it 3-0 when he held off the challenge of Adama Traore, breezed past Nathan Collins and found the bottom corner.

Jamie Vardy added a fourth for Leicester – his first goal of the season – when he turned in Timothy Castagne’s cross with 11 minutes left.

Wolves had an incredible 21 shots in the match but failed to score, compared to Leicester’s clinical five.

The Foxes climbed 16th place and also got a welcome boost to their goal difference.
