Euroleague Basketball: Bentil scores 18 points in Red Star loss to Panathinaikos

Ghanaian basketball player, Ben Bentil, has starred in the Euroleague for the second game in a row for Serbian side, Red Star Belgrade, underlining his blistering start to the season for his new side.

Bentil registered 18 points, six rebounds, an assist and three steals in 28 minutes in Belgrade’s MTS’ 75-77 loss to Panathinaikos.

27-year-old Bentil played two seasons with Greek side Panathinaikos and won two Greek league titles and a Greek Cup in his time with the Athens club.

Bentil was efficient with his shooting as he converted four of seven two point shot attempts, two of four three point shot attempts and four of five free throw shot attempts respectively in the contest.

Martin Hassan was the only Red Star aside Bentil to score in double figures with the American registering 12 points in 22 minutes.

Red Star has lost two in as many games in the Euroleague this season after losing to reigning champions, Anadolou Efes from Turkey.

In that game, Bentil scored 13 points  and he will hope to improve on his output for the team in their next tie. They Spanish side Baskonia next on October 19.
