Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Executive Chairman Togbe Afede XIV has heaped enormous praise on under-fire board members Alhaji Akambi and Vincent Sowah-Odotei.

Togbe Afede XIV threw his full support behind the pair at a press conference organized by the board to address matters that have popped up since Hearts exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Phobians crashed out of the preliminary stage of Africa’s second tier club football competition after losing 1-3 on aggregate to Malian side Real Bamako.

A strong section of supporters have fingered Alhaji Akambi and Vincent Sowah-Odotei as the main instigators of the club’s recent downward slide due to their reported hand in Samuel Boadu’s unceremonious exit as Hearts head coach mere days before the Bamako clash.

However, Togbe Afede XIV backed the pair stating,

“I can say without any doubt that the likes of Akambi and Honourable Odotei are very rare…When it comes to ensuring value for money, I have not seen anybody like Akambi and Honourable Odotei. Sometimes I am amazed about the level of commitment from these people and trust me the successes of 2021, 2022 on the pitch…would never have been possible without the dedication of these people.”

He went on to highlight the pair’s input in Hearts fast growing team facility at Pobiman.
