The Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) is set to organize the Ghana National Basketball Championship from December 12 to December 22 in Cape Coast.

The competition makes a return after a lengthy spell of dormancy as part activities from the Ato Van-Ess led GBBA to improve player quality by engaging players in multiple competitions.

The upcoming competition is to be played out under the theme “Rallying for Development” with 36 teams due to compete.

18 teams are scheduled to feature in the tournament in the Men’s Division with the same number of teams competing in the Women’s Division.

Representatives from 10 of Ghana’s 16 regions and education bodies GHATUSA (Ghana Technical Universities Sports Association), GUSA (Ghana University Sports Association) and GES (Ghana Education Service) are billed to compete in the 10 day tournament.

Male and female teams from the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Fire Service, Ghana Revenue Authority and Ghana Prisons Service make up the rest of the competing teams.

This year’s National Basketball Championship is in collaboration with the National Sports Authority, National Olympic Committee and African Games Local Organizing Committee.
