Ghanaian winger, David Atanga found the back of the net in his 2022/23 Belgian Cup debut to help KV Oostende progress to the next round of the Belgian Cup.

Atanga scored in Oostende’s 4-1 win over Thes Sport in the Round of 16 stage of the Belgian Cup; this was Atanga’s first appearance in the cup competition this season.

Former Red Bull Salzburg player, Atanga scored Oostende’s second goal in the 64th minute after Thierry Ambrose’s opening goal in the 55th minute.

Having represented Ghana at the Under 17 and Under 20 levels, Atanga has had a blistering start to the season scoring three times in five league appearances.

He has scored four goals in all and registered an assist in 13 league games while starting in six of such games this season.

Oostende plays KV Westerlo next in the Jupiler Pro League on Saturday, November 12.

Atanga’s goal-scoring feat comes on the back of missing out on the 55-man provisional Black Stars list for the 2022 FIFA World Cup that was announced recently.
