The squad numbers for players representing Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar have been announced ahead of the start of the competition.

Ghana’s 26 man squad was named earlier this week on Monday, November 14 with head coach Otto Addo naming a largely inexperienced and young squad.

Surprise picks in the squad Antoine Semenyo, Kamal Sowah and Salis Samed will wear jersey numbers 25, 24 and 21 respectively.

Veterans Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew and Captain Andre Ayew will wear jerseys numbered 5, 9 and 10 respectively. The oldest player in the squad, Denis Odoi (34 years old), will wear jersey number 3.

BetPawa Ghana Premier League contingent in the squad, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Ibrahim Danlad, will wear jersey numbers 13 and 12 respectively.

Ghana commences its World Cup campaign on Thursday, November 24 against Portugal at 16:00 GMT; the Black Stars play South Korea and Uruguay in the remaining Group H games.

This year’s World Cup will be Ghana’s fourth appearance at the tournament after featuring in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively.
