Black Stars goalkeeper, Richard Ofori, has been confirmed injured by South African side Orlando Pirates nine days to the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The injury was confirmed by Pirates as the team prepared to play arch rival Kaizer Chiefs in the semifinals of this season’s Black Label Cup tournament.

Ofori is one of three Orlando Pirates players on the team’s injury list with the other two being defenders Thabiso Monyane and Innocent Maela.

The game is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, November 12 with Mamelodi Sundowns taking on Amazulu in the other semifinal contest.

The upcoming game is the second game between Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates in two weeks following Chiefs 1-0 win over Pirates in the first Soweto Derby.

Ofori was on the bench in the loss after recovering from a knee injury only a few days earlier.

The former was named in the 55-man Black Stars provisional World Cup squad and is heavily tipped to make the final 26-man team for the World Cup.

The announcement is to be officially announced on Monday, November 14.
