Referees must officiate games with clear conscience- Retired Referee Eric Mensah

Former Ghana Premier League referee Eric Owusu Mensah has advised present day referees to head into games with a clear conscience.

He said this in an interview with CITI Sports where he rated officiating at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar at 8.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Touching on what Ghanaian referees could pick up from the just ended World Cup as the betPawa Ghana Premier League returns, the retired referee called for game officials to make calls that stems from they having the right conscience.

“The referees must go there (into games) with clear conscience, make sure that they apply the laws of the game” he stated before calling for referees to make calls as soon as they happen rather than wait for such situations to play out before whistling.

Eric Mensah said this in light of the absence of VAR technology that aids referees to make calls during games.

Since retiring from active refereeing, Owusu Mensah has picked up the role of Ashanti Regional Association Football Instructor.
