Ghana (white) lost 0-2 to Uruguay in the final game to crash out of the World Cup.

Former Sunderland and Udinese striker Asamoah Gyan has expressed his disappointment over Ghana’s exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the group stage.

The Black Stars all-time leading goal scorer made his feelings known about the team’s performance following a 0-2 loss to Uruguay in a game Ghana needed to avoid a loss to ensure progression to the Round of 16 stage.

“You can’t lose a game like this. There wasn’t any sense of urgency, nothing, flat footed nothing and I’m very very disappointed with the performance today and I’m very very upset. You can lose a game but you can’t lose a game like this…it irritates me sometimes but I’m human, we are all supporting but you can’t lose a game like that,” he said while working as a pundit on South African based channel SuperSport.

Gyan

Ghana impressed in a 2-3 loss to Portugal and did same in a 3-2 win over South Korea heading into the game against Uruguay in a rematch of the infamous 2010 World Cup matchup that had Uruguay beat Ghana via a penalty shootout in controversial fashion.

Ghana (white) lost 0-2 to Uruguay in the final game to crash out of the World Cup.

However, two first half goals from Flamengo midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta in the 26th minute and 32nd minute sealed Ghana’s fate.

Uruguay failed to progress from the group despite the win as Portugal topped the group with South Korea qualifying in second place.

Otto

Otto Addo has stepped down from his role as Black Stars head coach in the aftermath of the loss to concentrate on his work as a an assistant coach at German league side Borussia Dortmund.
