Barnieh can leave if he wants to – Dr Nyaho Tamakloe

Accra Hearts of Oak board member Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe says the club should not stop Afriyie Barnieh from leaving when his contract runs out.

Barnieh has been avoiding contract extension talks according to the veteran football administrator.

The striker has been an essential part of Hearts of Oak’s recent history which includes FA cup wins and League triumph in the 2020/21 season.

The 21 year old has also put up good performances for the Black Satellites and Black Galaxies which resulted in a Black Stars call up to the on-going World Cup in Qatar

However, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe believes the player should not be dictating terms to the club

”We have not even had the opportunity to sit down with him,” he said, as quoted by Graphic Sports.

“Whenever you call him he’ll give an excuse and because he gets invited to the national teams he’ll tell you that we are going here and when we come back I’ll sign.” He added

“I’ve told my colleagues on the board that we should not allow him to dictate to us. If he is unwilling to sign we should allow him to go because it was Hearts that brought him to the limelight and if he wants to be ungrateful he should be allowed to go.”

Barnieh is expected to join the Black Galaxies in camp soon as they prepare for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) slated for January next year in Algeria.
