He said this after extending his contract with Hearts till 2024 with an option to extend ; Awako was in the final year of his deal prior to the extension.

The veteran creative midfielder joined Hearts of Oak in the lead up to the 2021-2022 league season from rival club Accra Great Olympics.

It’s amazing because this is my childhood club and it’s a club that I have always wanted to play before I quit football in the future.
