Making its third outing, the Pops 100 camp came to a conclusion on December 30, 2022 at the University of Ghana.

The primary goal of The Pops 100 Camp and Seed Academy Ghana is to develop the next generation of African leaders through education and basketball while creating a sustainable, scalable basketball culture that will cultivate and inspire the next generation of Ghanaian youth.

The two-day event powered by Seed Academy Ghana was a 2 day intensive basketball camp for elite and grassroots male and female basketball student-athletes.

On Day 1, the student-athletes were taken through development and enhancement of critical basketball skills such as ball handling, passing, shooting form, and defense as well as a Life Skills Sessions with Pops Mensah-Bonsu.

Day 2 also saw more basketball games, development and life skills and a closing awards ceremony with special invited guests with the likes of Priscilla Owusu Agyeman, Sister Debbie, Ama K. Abebrese, Yaw Sakyi Afari and a host of others gracing the occasion.

Speaking in an interview with Citi Sports, the former Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors player, Mensah-Bonsu spoke about his vision for the academy and where he sees basketball heading in Ghana.

“The camp has been successful and over these two days, we have been able to work with these kids according to schedule to develop their skills and life skills too to better equip them for the future. It is all about inspiring and building the youth so that is what we are doing,” he said.

“We will not know if our project has yielded results today. It is an investment and  we can only know if what we have done has been fruitful or not and that will be in the next three to seven years and see how they blossom in Ghana and in Africa,” he added.

Citi Sports also caught up with social media and popular skit maker, Priscilla Owusu Agyeman also known as Ahuofe Patri who was at the event as a mentor.

“As someone who is in the limelight, you turn out to be a role model and it has been my pleasure to be with these kids and sharing my experience with them and also interacting with them,” she said.

At the end of the clinic, some boys and girls were given special recognition for their growth and exhibition of mastery during the period.
