Ghana defender, Joseph Aidoo, registered a goal for Celta Vigo on his return to club football following his time with the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Celta Vigo beat lower tier side SD Gernika 3-0 in the second round of games in Spain’s Copa del Rey away from home.

Aidoo scored Celta’s second in the win with former Barcelona player Carles Perez scoring the opening goal in the 31st minute and Luca De La Torre scoring Celta’s third in the 68th minute.

Former Genk player Aidoo headed home a cross from Franco Cervi in the 55th minute to get his first in the competition but second goal in all competitions this season.

With the win, Celta has qualified to the next stage of this season’s Copa del Rey and will play against a yet-to-be determined opponent.

Aidoo was part of Ghana’s team that competed in this year’s World Cup but didn’t feature in any of Ghana’s three games in Doha.
