Football is played on the pitch and not on paper-Madagascar coach jabs Ghana

Madagascar head coach Romuald Rakotondrabe

Madagascar national football team Romuald Rakotondrabe has hit the Ghanaian contingent in the 2022 CHAN with a series of hard jabs after his side secured a 2-1 win over the much fancied Black Galaxies.

The Malagasy delivered the biggest upset of the competition created for players competing in national leagues on the continent. This year’s edition is taking place in Algeria.

Two time finalist Ghana, returned to the competition after missing out on the past three editions but got stunned by an impressive Madagascar first half performance.

Solomampionona Razafindranaivo and Olivier Randriatsiferana scored in the first half before substitute Augustine Agyapong pulled a goal back for the Black Galaxies.

Speaking in the postgame interview with CAF, Rakotondrabe was in bullish mood after recording the big win.

“I am very proud of my players and what they have produced tonight. They beat the favourites and as I mentioned yesterday, the game of football is played on the pitch and not on paper” he said before going ahead to preach caution to his team stating, “We must also be careful not to get carried away. Beating Ghana does not mean we can win the tournament.”
