He joins Berekum Chelsea after a disappointing run with defending Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko after signing for the Kumasi based club two seasons ago.

Amankona in his first season with Kotoko, played 14 games in the GPL under then Kotoko head coach Prosper Ogum Narteh.

In the 2022-2023 betPawa Ghana Premier League season, he has played eight games for Kotoko, starting three games and scoring once under Seydou Zerbo

The acquisition of Stephen Amankona is expected to bolster the chances of Berekum Chelsea, who are three points from the relegation zone, survive the league.

He captained Berekum Chelsea during his last stint at the club, scoring 10 goals in 28 games in his final season.
