The betPawa Ghana Premier League has missed out on a place among the top 80 ranked men’s national football leagues in the world.

According to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) ranking, the Ghanaian top flight misses out on a place in its rankings.

The IFFHS recently released its list of the best football leagues in the world over the period between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.

Ghanaian clubs failed to make deep runs in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup in the period under consideration.

10 leagues representing 10 African countries made it into the list with Egypt leading the way as the North African nation’s league ranks 13th in the world.

In the previous year, Egypt’s League ranked 14th in the world according to the IFFHS.

The Algerian league ranks 20th in the world while Morocco’s top light ranks 24th in the world and the Sudanese league ranks 33rd in the world.

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku stated a player’s monthly wage in the Algerian league can take care of a player’s expenses for an entire season in the Ghanaian league.

The Nigerian League and Zambian league rank 77th and 79th in the rankings.
