Pele

Black Stars football legend James Kuuku Dadzie has paid tribute to the late Edson Arantes do Nascimento describing the demised football great as an immensely gifted and creative player.

He said this in an exclusive interview with CITI Sports following the passing of the three time FIFA World Cup winner. Nicknamed Pele, the Brazilian superstar passed away at the age of 82 following a battle with cancer.

“Pele was a gifted player and he was so creative you couldn’t believe it and that is football. His creativity was immense…you could see that he had the technique; Pele had those qualities” he said.

Pele was buried at a skyscraper cemetery overlooking the Santos Stadium where he starred for the Santos FC in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

With Santos, Pele won the Copa Libertadores twice in 1962 and 1963 and won the Intercontinental Cup in those same years.

On the international stage, Pele featured on three World Cup winning Brazilian teams in 1958, 1962 and 1970 starring in the 1958 and 1970 editions.
