Black Stars and Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus has stated his Sports Personality of the Year Award win will serve as motivation for him to do more in his career.

He said this in a recorded speech played after he won the biggest prize at the 47th edition of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards held at the Accra International Conference Center.

“I would like to thank Ghanaians and everyone for their massive support…I am really happy to be in this position, to be an award winner tonight and this serves as a big motivation for me to keep doing more so I just want to thank everyone else who has been involved in this” he said.

Kudus was among 25 athletes honoured for their outstanding exploits in various sports disciplines in the year under review.

Kudus

The former Nordsjaelland player beat out competition from 2022 Commonwealth Games medalists Sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah and Boxer Abraham Mensah to scoop the big prize.

Kudus has scored 11 goals in 24 games in all competitions this season and his fine performance for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup got him to win the Foreign based Men’s Footballer of the Year Award.
