He made really good decisions and was a calming influence- Charlton Coach praises Jojo Wollacott

Charlton Athletic Under 21 coach Danny Senda has praised the efforts of Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Wollacott as the Black Stars shot stopper works his way back from injury.

Bristol born Wollacott, played out the entirety of Charlton Athletic’s U-21 team’s 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth in a friendly game played behind closed doors.

Wollacott injured a finger during warm ups mere days to the Black Stars final 26 man squad announcement for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The injury forced him to miss out on Ghana’s fourth participation in the World Cup and as he attempts his comeback from the injury, Senda highlighted Wollacott’s performance in the friendly game win.

“Jojo had a really, really calming influence behind the back three. He made really good decisions and that enabled us to take control of the game with his ability to build. He pulled off a really good, point-blank save for us midway through the second half, which was a critical moment in the game” Senda said to Charlton’s official website.

Wollacott starred in Ghana’s qualification to the 2022 World Cup and was primed to be named in the Black Stars team that played against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Doha.
