Appointing Chris Hughton is good news for the Black Stars- Fatau Dauda

Former Ghana Black Stars goalkeeper says appointing Chris Hughton as head coach of the Black Stars is good news for Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team.

He said this in an exclusive interview with CITI Sports in the aftermath of Hughton’s appointment by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to replace Otto Addo.

Addo stepped down from his role as Black Stars head coach after Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign ended at the group stage. Addo stepped down to focus on his work as an Assistant Coach at Borussia Dortmund.

Hughton served as Black Stars Technical Advisor for little under a year before getting promoted to the role of head coach.

“Well that’s good news for us. That’s what we’ve been waiting for because very soon the Black Stars will be getting some assignments, some games. With his assistants, Didi Dramani and Geroge Boateng, I think they will do a wonderful job. I am very sure” Dauda said.

Dauda

Dauda played for the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and 2013 AFCON; he retired at the end of the 2019-2020 season after playing for the likes of Legon Cities, Nigerian league side Enyimba and South African side Orlando Pirates.

Ghana plays Angola on March 20 in the first of a two legged 2023 AFCON tie at the Cape Coast Stadium.
