The Betpawa Premier League fixture between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko on March 5, 2023, will double as the 2023 President’s Cup match.
This was confirmed by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) on Monday, 27th February 2023.
Citi Sports understands that fixture congestion led to this decision.
According to GHALCA, there will be penalty shootouts to determine the champion if the duel ends in a stalemate.
Ghana’s two biggest clubs will receive cash, medals, and a trophy for the winner.
The game will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium, a day ahead of Ghana’s 66th independence anniversary.
The President’s Cup is an annual match in honour of the sitting President of Ghana.
President, Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to be in attendance.
The Phobians are the defending Champions after beating Kotoko 2-1 in the 2022 edition.
