In form Ghanaian Midfielder Mohammed Kudus paid homage to the late Christian Atsu after he scored his first ever free-kick in Ajax’s 4-0 victory when they hosted Sparta Rotterdam in the Eredivisie.

Christian Atsu was a victim of the devastating earthquake that affected some parts of Turkey and Syria on the 6th of February.

The nimble footed former Black Stars winger was confirmed dead on Saturday after being discovered under the rubble 12 days after the earthquake.

Kudus featured for his team the following day in the Eredivisie and honoured the fallen Black Star after scoring a beautiful free-kick in the 84th minute by lifting his jersey to reveal a shirt that read, “R.I.P ATSU”.

Atsu’s mortal remains arrived in Ghana on Sunday, February 19 at the Kotoka International Airport and was received by his family and a government contingency led by Ghana Vice President Dr. Mahumudu Bawumia and Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
