We need to be clinical in front of goal- Chris Hughton

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has called on his players to be clinical in front of goal after seeing the Black Stars waste good chances in its 1-0 win over Angola in a 2023 AFCON qualifier.

The game was the first of two ties against Angola and was played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi with Antoine Semenyo scoring the game winner deep in added on time.

The Black Stars had 11 scoring opportunities in the game but was inefficient in front of goal; the team has been plagued with goal scoring issues for several years and the situation has been worse since Asamoah Gyan moved out of the Black Stars scope.

“We’ve had 11 chances so that’s the first positive. If you was telling me that we played 96 minutes and we only had two or three chances then that’s worrying but the fact that we have had chances you always know…come the next game or next game after, you’re going to put some of them chances away. That’s the only thing we learned is that we need to be a little more clinical when have them opportunities Hughton said after the win.
