Ready to play for Ghana if I am invited – AS Douanes’ Bryan-Amaning

Ghanaian-British international Power Forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning helped AS Douanes progress to the playoffs.

London born Ghanaian power forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning has declared his readiness to play for Ghana’s National Men’s Basketball Team.

He declared his intentions in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after helping Senegalese side AS Douanes qualify to the playoff stage of the 2023 Basketball Africa League (BAL). The playoffs are to be held in Kigali, Rwanda in May.

Bryan-Amaning had a successful return to professional basketball after being out of action for two years partly due to injury and after helping Douanes secure a coveted playoff spot in the NBA- FIBA Africa event, the veteran forward voiced out his readiness to play for Ghana.

“I needed to be away from the British national basketball team for four years and I haven’t played for them since maybe 2017, 2018 so if the opportunity came and obviously, my name was called or they reached out to me to play, obviously I’ve got a few years left in basketball so if the opportunity came, I wouldn’t say no.”

Bryan-Amaning starred for University of Washington with two time NBA All Star Isaiah Thomas and has played pro basketball in Turkey, Serbia, France, Germany and Argentina.

New members were recently named to Ghana’s National Basketball teams. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
