Ghana forward Mohammed Kudus is in line to have his free kick named as the best goal scored for Ajax Amsterdam in the month of February.

Kudus’ free kick in the 84th minute sealed a 4-0 Ajax win over Sparta Rotterdam in the Eredivisie as Ajax hunt for its second league title win in a row.

The 22 year old’s goal celebration garnered worldwide attention as it paid tribute to demised Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu.

Former Newcastle United and Everton player Atsu passed away after getting caught under rubble of a building that collapsed following a series of earthquakes that rocked Turkey in early February.

Atsu’s lifeless body was pulled from the rubble on Saturday, February 18 and a day later, Kudus scored his first free kick goal for Ajax.

Kudus is having an excellent season and has reportedly popped up on the transfer radar of Manchester United having scored 13 goals in 26 games and registering three assists in the UEFA Champions League and Eredivisie.

The Black Stars player played under current Man United manager Erik ten Hag during the latter’s time at the Amsterdam club.
