Olympics to file protest against ‘unfair’ officiating in Legon Cities game

Board Member for Accra Great Olympics, Kwame Asuah Takyi has expressed his frustration at refereeing decisions in the club’s dramatic 1-1 draw against Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Great Olympics had a penalty chalked off following a lengthy deliberation between the referee Eric Owusu Prempeh and his assistant, Patrick Papaala.

The final verdict from the referee was offside against Olympics rather than a foul in their favour, much to the displeasure of some Board Members and a section of the fans.

Speaking to Citi Sports in an exlcusive interview, Kwame Asuah Takyi disclosed the Board will take steps to file a protest against the conduct of centre referee, Eric Owusu Prempeh in the coming days.

“The officiating has not been fair. It’s not been fair. You were all there, you saw what happened, and this cannot improve our football,” he said.

“I think that we will have to file a protest against the conduct of the referee and his assistant. It’s not fair. Our game will not develop if our match officials [continue like this],” he added.

Great Olympics are currently 14th on the league table after 23 games and travel to Tamale, where they face Real Tamale United in their next betPawa Premier League game.
