Public Relations Officer of Bechem United Football Club, Emmanuel Gyasi Atuahene, is making a plea to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to revise the kickoff time for betPawa Ghana Premier League games.

He said this in an exclusive interview with CITI Sports as conversations continue over improving spectatorship at league games.

“It is high time that we revise the kickoff times that we use for most of our games. If you want to get more spectators into our stadia and it is not a weekend, especially for the midweek games, we need to check the time again. Probably, the matches at the various stadia that we have floodlights could kickoff at 6 pm and then the rest can start around 3 or 3:30 pm,” he said.

GFA President Kurt Okraku

He cited Bechem’s game against Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Kumasi as an encounter that had high interest but had a poor turnout at the Baba Yara Stadium because it kicked off at 3 pm local time rather than later in the evening.

Bechem United ranks third in the 18-team league standings and takes on Karela United on Sunday, March 19.
