U-20 AFCON: Senegal beat Gambia to win tournament

Senegal beat neighbours Gambia by 2 goals to 0 in a blockbuster final to clinch the Total Energies U -20 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in Cairo at the Cairo International Stadium.

The intense rivalry between the two countries was renewed when they battled it out for the coveted trophy.

Faye Souleymana and Camara Mamadou, both got on the scoresheet for Head Coach Malik Daf on the night.

Senegal, The Gambia, Nigeria and Tunisia will now represent Africa at the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia slated for May 20 – June 11, 2023.

Senegal have now won the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, the 2022 African Nations Championship in Algeria, the 2022 Beach Soccer in Mozambique and the just ended U-20 AFCON in Egypt.
