Several fans have thronged the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to witness a Black Stars training session ahead of the team’s clash against Angola on Thursday, March 23 at 16:00 GMT.

Tomorrow’s game is the first of two 2023 AFCON qualification games against the Palancas Negras and doubles as the first game for the Black Stars with Chris Hughton as head coach.

Football lovers and supporters of the Black Stars waited at the gates of the Baba Yara Stadium hoping to catch a glimpse of Black Stars players.

They rushed in as soon as the gates opened and   large portions could be heard chanting Ghana midfielder Kudus Mohammed’s name as they streamed into the stadium.

For Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu, fans of the Kumasi native, displayed a poster of the Southampton defender in a Ghana jersey while singing and dancing.

Both players have quickly become fan favourites  since making their respective debuts for the national team and have become pivotal to Ghana’s chances of ending a 41 year title drought.

Salisu and Kudus scored at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and have continued their impressive form at Southampton and Ajax respectively this season.
